The SunAWARE mission includes skin cancer prevention and detection education for all segments of the population. Our programs include a daily twitter of sun protection action steps, a weekly blog providing updates about skin cancer prevention, outdoor worker education programs, an anti-tanning campaign aimed towards teens and SunAWARE books for children.
Your tax-deductible contribution of any amount will go a long way to supporting our mission, whether it’s a $15 donation to cover the cost of publishing a children’s book, a contribution to our new lunch truck program for outdoor workers, or a generous gift to support all our programs. Donating online is secure and easy with PayPal, or you can download a donation form and mail in your contribution. Once you’ve made a donation, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt from SunAWARE.
Support SunAWARE Children’s Books
SunAWARE projects include the production and distribution of children’s books that teach the five steps of skin cancer prevention and detection. These books are given free of cost to schools and activity programs that do not have a budget to pay for them. A contribution to this project will go a long way towards making sure our children know how to protect their skin.
Donations can be made for specific children’s books:
Andy’s Best-Ever Save, a book for 6-10 year olds, highlights the five, easy to remember steps for skin cancer prevention and detection in a classic little league story of sun drenched bleachers, crowded dug-outs, dry grass and unexpected saves by a courageous seagull. The book will provide the SunAWARE lessons to all children while highlighting the need for sun protection for children of color. It will be translated into Spanish and will be distributed to Little League organizations nationwide. Our goal for publication and distribution is $30,000.00
Young Sailors Book Project
Danger at Graves Light, a book for 8-12 year old, provides the SunAWARE advice in a story about five young sailors who can hardly believe that a sunny day on the water can cause serious harm. But when their grandmother tells them about the dangers at Graves Light, they finally understand the need to use sun protection to stay safe. The book provides the SunAWARE lessons for children and their families who are active on the water. It has been endorsed by the US Sailing Association. Our goal for publication and distribution is $20,000.
We will send you a copy of one of our books with any contribution of $25 or higher.
SunAWARE Lunch Truck Campaign
SunAWARE is launching a Lunch Truck Program to reach outdoor workers with our message. Through this program we can reach outdoor workers with daily advertising on truck side panels and provide information pamphlets at the lunch windows. Our goal is the raise $25,000 for this project in 2011.
Any contribution to the project is tax deductible and will help educate thousands of outdoor workers.
